As highlighted in Monk Christmas Angels, in 2009 we were able to raise almost $2k in three weeks.

In 2010, our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to donate to different charities. I have full faith that we will not only be able to accomplish this feat, but also surpass it. We are connected by good friends, family, and intentions.

So we launch our company with a first challenge among many. As a community, our first challenge is to raise $1000. MonkMe will donate $1 for every new member. Everyone that signs up to join our cause will be rewarded with a donation in their name. Other options and details to raise $ donations will be announced soon.

We are proud to announce that our first chosen foundation will be charity: water.

This decision was based on many factors. A snippet of their website highlights the key points.

WHY WATER.

Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in eight of us.

WHO WE ARE.

charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. We give 100% of the money raised to direct project costs, funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need. Just $20 can give one person in a developing nation clean water for 20 years.

This is an outstanding idea with great execution. They show the numbers. They take viable data and prove the donations are actually helping who they are meant to help. charity: water even has provisions that none of the donations can go to administrative costs.

Three years old, the foundation, charity: water was able to raise over $10 Million to hydrate hundreds and thousands, peaking over the millions by now. For MonkMe, this is a brilliant cause that mirrors our belief in shared love.

What impressed us most is that they function how MonkMe functions. Together, if we connect with one another and share our resources, we can make a significant impact to heal our world.

When we meet our goal of 1000 members and $1000 dollars in donation, who knows what the 2nd challenge will be?

Perhaps it to raise $5000, because that would be how much it costs to build a well to hydrate 250+ people with clean water. It would be amazing for our community to have such an impact.

MonkMe will evolve. We will find new ways to donate more to other causes such as eco-green and humanitarian/wildlife funds.

Join us. Donate a dollar by just signing up as a new member.

Thank you and you can read more about MonkMe Causes.

And thank you charity: water!!
