Find a way to go on a spiritual journey everyday. It helps us focus. It helps us relieve stress, anxiety and ego. It allows us to breathe and maintain awareness.
If you are motivated and lucky enough to go on a run, hike, or bike ride, do so! It will be easier for most when out in nature. So enjoy it all around you. If your life is too hectic and chaotic, you can still have a spiritual moment. Enjoy all around you.
Realize… It’s not what you do, but how you do it.
And in this case the how is the mindfulness and willingness to forgive yourself and others, face your fears and evolve.
The How
Anything in life can be perceived as a journey. You can hike up the mountain and hike back down. Each leg of this journey represents something you are working on. Perhaps the way up will serve you to clear your mind down to the most pertinent feelings, emotions and thoughts. At the top, you can let go of this baggage you have carried. And when returning, you can gather strength and clarity.
Or you can let go, mourn, and return in love.
Ask yourself questions. What makes you smile? When did you feel most powerful? When were you your worst enemy? When did you love?
Allow yourself to dream and come up with intentions that feed your spirit. Don’t allow the shackles of reality keep you from dreaming. Want to go to Alaska? Then just dream and intend on it. Want to be an artist? It is never too late.
Embrace all the blessings and face your weakness. Evolve.
Use your imagination to construct a frame that seems natural for you. You may like it step by step. You may like a beginning, middle, and end.
You can be trudging on the ground, finding your wings, and flying.
Allow this to free your spirit. Allow this to be the most powerful tool in finding truth and honesty. Allow it to help you fly.
And it will.
The What
The what? Well that is up to you. For most something quiet and peaceful serves them in clearing their mind. Maybe you are not the case.
What do you have time for? Can you afford 5 minutes or 2 hours? What will keep you interested, motivated, and clear minded? What environment serves you the best?
These are some common personality types that are in need of some spiritual journeys.
The Busy Bee
Got no time? Find a way. You need to take care of yourself. So be mindful. Just adapt the mindfulness with something you are already doing or have time for.
· Draw a labyrinth on your hand or use a portable version. A simple 5 minute break of clear mindfulness can give you abundance in energy.
· Driving to and from work with mindfulness. Break your trip up into different sections, so that each as some metaphorical purpose.
· Bathing can be a journey as well. Allow the symbolism of removing our defenses, cleaning of our toxic energy, and receiving gifts parallel to a warm, cleansing shower.
The Nature Lover
Lucky enough to have time to get out in nature?! Good. Get out there. It is much easier to connect to a higher power in the nature. But there are plenty who find comfort amongst concrete buildings.
But each time you run or go on a hike, break the trip into different phases.
Tips:
· Instead of running, walk it this time. Instead of walking, jog it. Try it at different times of the day. Allow yourself to see the same path in new light.
· Allow your breath and heartbeat to lull you into a thoughtful meditation. Calm your breathing by being mindful.
· Be aware of all your senses. How does the texture of the ground feel on your shoes? What do you hear? Acknowledge the beautiful birds and running creek water.
· Don’t chat your way. Don’t drown nature with ipods. Enjoy this journey in silence. You will be amazed at your senses.
The Risk Taker
Some like a bit of adrenalin to clear their minds and feel spiritual. They want to feel and allow these activities to connect with their high power. These activities can easily represent journeys symbolic of any growth. Try mindful:
· Rock Climbing
· Sky Diving
· Surfing
· Riding
· Ropes Course
It doesn’t really matter what you do. Sure there will be some confines, but ultimately what works, works.
Just find ways to do this every day. Mix and match it up to keep it new and interesting. Allow your spirit to go on daily journeys by just being aware and mindful. Walk a labyrinth or jump out of plane. If you do it with intention, any action can allow your spirit to live free.
How would you go on your journey?
